The following is a copy of the license supplied in the Zipfusion help file, however, it is provided for convenience only. If any material differences exist, the terms in the current help file shall apply.
Introduction
- To register, goto Registration
- Any breach of the terms of this license may be considered to be a breach of copyright, in which case the copyright holder may initiate legal proceedings.
- Use of, or distribution of Zipfusion shall be deemed to be acceptance in full of all terms of this license.
Zipfusion 4 onwards - Multiple license types are supported, each with a unique registration code.
- Registration codes for versions 2.x and 3.x are recognised as a Basic License.
Definitions
Within the confines of this license :-
- The Copyright Owner is James Douglas Holden Turner.
- Authors shall be defined as organisations or individuals that contributed to the design and implementation of Zipfusion.
- Publishers shall be defined as organisations or individuals that distribute Zipfusion in the form of simple or
self-extracting archives containing only files relevant to Zipfusion. This includes Cathonian Ventures Ltd., Skaro.Net, and
other organisations that publish Zipfusion using media such as the internet or cdrom disk.
A Publisher's License is defined separately, below. - Deployers shall be defined as organisations or individuals that use Zipfusion to distribute files and/or reconfigure computers.
- Zipfusion shall be defined as registered when a code for the appropriate license type is issued.
The different license types are described below. - A product shall be defined as a collection of files that is distributed using Zipfusion.
Different language versions, etc. of a single basic product count as one product.
Professional and standard versions, etc. of a single basic product count as one product.
Even if most versions are free, if any version is commercial the product shall be classed as commercial. - A product shall be defined as in-house if copyright is owned entirely by the licensee.
A product shall be defined as outside if part or all of the copyright is owned by any party other than the licensee.
The copyright status of royalty-free run-time libraries, etc. (provided by companies such as Microsoft™ and Borland™, etc.) falls outside the scope of this license. - A product shall be defined as commercial if
- any payment is explicitly required or requested,
OR - any revenue mechanism exists for the product. Such revenue mechanisms include, but are not restricted to, adverts embedded in
the product and voluntary contributions by methods such as Paypal™.
OR - it is an upgrade/patch/driver, etc. for a commercial product.
For instance, hardware is not free, therefore hardware drivers, etc. are always classed as commercial.
OR - it is distributed within a profit-making organisation.
For instance, a product that updates custom software used within a company or corporation is classed as commercial.
Schools and colleges, etc. are considered to be profit-making if tuition fees, etc. are charged. If all tuition fees, etc. are paid by the state, church or charity, etc. then the institution is considered to be non-profit-making (and registration is not required).
OR - it is distributed within a state-funded organisation such as police or civil service.

License Types

The Basic License
- No longer issued.
- Only the File Extractor and Installer stub programs may be used to distribute commercial products.
Publisher's License
- If your organisation publishes outside software that is commercial, a Publisher's License is required.
See above for the definition of outside software.
Up to four outside products that are commercial may be published with a Large Business License. - There is no fixed charge for this type of license - the cost will depend on the number and nature of the products published.
Large Business License
- If your organisation has more than four employees, or you wish to distribute more than four commercial products a Large Business License is required.
- There is no limit on the number of in-house products that may be distributed using Zipfusion.
See above for the definition of in-house. - You may publish up to four outside products that are commercial.
If you wish to publish more than this, you require a Publisher's License.
See above for the definition of an outside product.
Small Business License
- If your organisation has no more than four employees you may apply for a Small Business License.
- Up to four commercial products that are in-house may be distributed using Zipfusion.
If you wish to distribute more this, or you wish to publish outside products that are commercial, you require a Large Business License.
Freeware license
- If your organisation distributes free software, you may apply for a Freeware License.
- If you wish to distribute both free and commercial products using Zipfusion, you require an alternative license type.
- There is no charge, however, applications may be declined.
Terms
- All licenses shall be governed by English law.
All disputes will be heard within England unless all parties concerned agree on an alternative location. - No conversation, whether recorded or not, shall form any part of this license.
No email, whether digitally signed or not, shall form any part of this license. - Subject to prevailing law, the Copyright Owner, Authors and Publishers shall not be liable for any losses resulting from use of Zipfusion, however, this license does not indemnify Deployers against their liabilities.
- Zipfusion must be registered if used to distribute one or more products that are commercial.
- Zipfusion may not be used to distribute illegal material such as pornography.
- Zipfusion may not be used to distribute deliberately malicious or damaging programs such as viruses.
- Zipfusion may not be used or configured in a manner likely to be damaging to a computer installation.
- Zipfusion may not be used to distribute software that covertly gathers and transmits information without the user's knowledge and consent. Such software is commonly called Spyware.
- You may not alter Zipfusion in any way.
- You may not reverse-engineer Zipfusion with the intention of creating a similar program (or, indeed, any other intention).
- Copyright must be waived on all translations of Zipfusion language files.
Copies of all translated language files must be posted to SKARO.NET.
