Typical designs for a vertical games bar

more snapshots Launch Windows are always rectangular and generally anchored to an edge of the screen. Other than that, you can change almost every conceivable parameter. You can create vertical windows anchored to the left or right screen edge. You can choose button colours individually, group buttons together, create transparent buttons, buttons that display captions only as popup tooltips (hints) use coloured or graphic window backgrounds, create application bars - the list is virtually endless.
Here are just a few examples.

Of course, other than perhaps a narrow application bar, you will want launch windows to be hidden most of the time, so not only can the remnant be used to show its associated launch window, it can be used to hide it too. You can also choose to have launch windows hide whenever an application or applet is launched, to hide when the mouse moves away from it, to hide when another window is activated and to hide when the escape key is pressed.
